Taking advantage of the 4-day curfew at the beginning of the year, summer residents and local tourists flocked to Bodrum. One day before the curfew, traffic in the district came to a standstill due to thousands of vehicles rushing to Bodrum.
Vehicle density was experienced on all road routes starting at the entrance of Bodrum and going towards Turgutreis, Yalıkavak, and Göltürkbükü. It was learned that the occupancy rate reached 70 percent in the hotels open in Bodrum right after the intensity experienced.

“Since Friday, a significant crowd has started in Bodrum. We understand from here that our citizens want to spend this four-day curfew and New Year’s Eve in Bodrum, probably they want to spend it in their homes. Because most of our hotels are closed. However, there is a very serious increase in traffic. In other words, we have been facing serious traffic for three days, including today. Of course, we took our precautions. With the restriction, there will already be a curfew.
Our citizens will spend New Year’s Eve at their homes. But it was clearly stated that house parties should not exist. We are trying to prevent the spread of the disease nowadays, where the risk of epidemics continues. At the same time, our citizens should be very careful in the street and in the market place. Increasing population and crowd also increase this risk. Currently this risk is not past. Vaccination has not started yet. That’s why I warn my citizens to be careful. ”
